Bench scraper

A bench scraper is a square piece of plastic that appears both specialised and redundant.

Then you get one, it stays close at hand and gets used with startling regularity.

Tools that fix problems I did not know I had are favourite tools. Especially when those tools are unassuming of my workflow and choices.
