Community building
The unreasonable effectiveness of low expectations when building a community:
Once three of us decided to start a new local community in a then-niche. We met for beers to discuss how to proceed.
We decided this: We publish every month that this community event is happening. Then, if the three of us pitch up, we have beer, and we talk about the thing - we have had a successful event.
That was the reality for a few months.
At its height, 50+ people attended.
The success required us to have very low expectations so that the next one could happen.
