Re(act/spond)

To re-act is to 'have done again'. To act in a way that has already been acted.
To re-spond is to 'again pledge'. To promise to answer.

When I react, I negate or intensify another's action.
When I respond, I answer the (sometimes) unspoken question.

To react feels satisfying and righteous.
To respond feels respectful and kind.
