Senses and sense-making

Sense-making is what our minds are doing by default: We have a neural network in the brain called “the default network”.

There is another network, less often activated. This one is called “the direct mode network”.

When you engage your senses fully and experience the world directly: You are using the direct mode.

Eastern meditation is then this: Without sense-making, use your senses directly to experience the moment.

Whenever you are doing that, you are meditating.
