Settling the duckweed
"Settling the duckweed" is a Tai Chi form. The metaphor is that the duckweed in the pond can be settled by staying open. And with gentle, aware, slow, movements.
Duckweed gets unsettled when people interact.
Murkiness enters the conversation as one thing stirs up another thing. When we then frantically try to address it we lose all visibility, and the murk takes over.
When the duckweed gets unsettled, I practice staying open.
And gently moving with what is moving already.
